2010

62% Syrah, 32% Grenache, 6% Mourvèdre

I have often been accused of slacking. The funny thing is I excel at it and thus I accomplish an amazing amount of goals. Slow and steady, the 2010 wine will win your heart and taste buds over. A wine derived from the the top ranches of Linne Calodo, I purposely name it as an underdog to turn my nose up to those that require names that include diamonds, flowers, birds of prey, and mountain ranges. These are all the things that a slacker gags on. The wine shows a glimpse of my inner being. Dark and supple, with a chalky acidity. A surround sound system of boysenberries, chocolate and liqueur. Great with roasted meats and delicious to the last drop.

Release date: Fall 2012, SOLD OUT

2009

65% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre

A savory departure from the 2008, the 2009 shows a textural quality of violets, stone, and boysenberry. Robust and subtle in the same sip, the Slacker is a decoy wine. The wine is not judged by the cover or name, but by the contents that lie inside. When you taste this wine, you will realize the name is not about the wine, but the winemaker himself.

2008

70% Syrah, 25% Grenache, 5% Mourvèdre

Slacker starts with strong aromas of green and black olive, rhubarb and ripe blueberry. This wine’s mouthfeel is elegant and bright with notes of roasted lamb chops, cranberry and cedar. It finishes with a touch of toasty charcoal and minerals, and should be enjoyed with grilled meats and game sometime in the next 3-5 years.

2007

68% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 16% Mourvèdre

The newest release of Slacker features a nose of plum, fig and pudding with subtle hints of tar and asphalt, a true syrah! Upon tasting, brighter fruits emerge – tart red raspberries, cherries and golden apples dominate. With young, supple tannins and medium acidity this wine promises only to improve with time. Drink now through 2014.

2006

67% Syrah, 18% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre

Fine lines of tannin and flavors of fresh fruit, cedar and grilled meats co-mingle with an attitude of confidence and self-assurance. Aged in neutral oak casks, this wine has a purity in its youthfulness while maintaining the ability to age gracefully. Drink now through 2014.

2005

65% Syrah, 35% Grenache

While the label doesn’t state it, the Slacker does contain mourvèdre. Imagine that! A wine named Slacker is mislabeled. The wine is bold, dark, and fused with tannin. Flavors of pomegranate, blackberry, and sage intermingle with aromas of roasted coffee and toast. Drink now or over the next 3-5 years.

2004

70% Syrah, 20% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre

2003

68% Syrah, 22% Grenache,10% Mourvèdre

The Slacker defies its name, soft well-balanced fruit integrated with the finest French, American and Hungarian woods. This wine represents not only the lonely winemaker but the idea that wines should be fun and relaxed. While the syrah dominates the blend, the grenache and mourvèdre bring about a texture that is a little more reminiscent of old world style. Boysenberry, cherry liquor and herbs du provence all intermingle with the flavors of toast, roasted coffee bean and vanilla.
