2007 Cherry Red
64% Zinfandel, 28% Mourvedre, 8% Syrah

For Cherry this year I used only 8% new oak to preserve the clear and fresh fruits this vineyard’s harvest had to offer. Brightly seeded fruits like cranberry, pomegranate, raspberry and cherry dominate the nose. Its creamy mouthfeel is full of flirty notes of fruit, with hints of gingerbread, coal, tar and a black pepper finish that lasts for minutes. This wine is drinkable now or can be cellared up to 3-6 years.

2007 Problem Child
72% Zinfandel, 16% Syrah 12% Mourvèdre

This vintage of Problem Child reminds me of what I love most about Zinfandel. A smoky nose with a hints of ripe berry and lots of sweet clove. Solid structure with bursts of luscious blackberry, dried fruits on the mid and essence of orange. The total package! Drink now through 2015.

2007 Outsider
70% Zinfandel, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre

Flavors of raspberry, pomegranate, and black cherry intermingle as the wine sifts its way through your palate. Aged in 30% new American Oak, these charcoaled barrels both enhance the aroma and mouthfeel making the wine almost a meal on its own. The heavy body of this wine makes me recommend that you consume within the next five years

2007 Slacker
68% Syrah, 16% Grenache, 16% Mourvèdre

The newest release of Slacker features a nose of plum, fig and pudding with subtle hints of tar and asphalt, a true Syrah! Upon tasting, brighter fruits emerge – tart red raspberries, cherries and golden apples dominate. With young, supple tannins and medium acidity this wine promises only to improve with time. Drink now through 2014.

2007 Sticks & Stones
63% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 12% Syrah

The nose on this wine takes me straight to the fresh flowers stand at farmers market on Thursday evening, bright white flowers intermingled with notes of charcoal and graham. The mouthfeel is healthy and full with darker fruits than past vintages, lush stone fruits such as plum and cherry. Cellar this wine for 4-7 years to enjoy its full potential.

2007 Rising Tides
45% Syrah, 35% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre

This vintage of Rising Tides is dark, dark, dark. Black currant, plum skin, and crimson, fleshy rose petals on the nose are followed by somewhat brighter notes of red berries and cream coupled with wheatberry, tobacco and freshly roasted coffee beans. Drink now through 2016.

2007 Nemesis

Weighing in at 80% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre and 5% Grenache, this wine is always a joy to make. A deep redish purple with aromatics of blueberry cheesecake and tar. The Nemesis coats the mouth with a sensory explosion that screams out boysenberry, cola, and fresh roasted meat. As great as the wine is today, I feel the wine will age gracefully over the next 8 years.

2007 Overthinker
50% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 25% Mourvedre

We have come full circle! In 2005 I planted the estate vineyard with one year old vines. In 2007 we harvested our first tiny crop of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre. The fruit is magnificently flavored, dark, complicated, and brightly structured. So, without further ado, I would like to introduce you to the OVERTHINKER, comprised of 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre. This wine was made with passion, starting with each vine being cared for like a child. The estate fruit was hand harvested by everyone who works here at Linne Calodo: the always funny Mark Wiberg, the creative supernova Whitney Geer, the spunky and multi-talented Roseanne Rianda and the Trevisan Clan. This self-titled debut represents everything that life has to offer in one glass and I must warn you, this is not your ordinary Linne Calodo! OVERTHINKER is a tight, yet balanced cornucopia of flavors with a modest dose of French Oak. Drinking this wine is a bit like being out of control on a ski slope only to find that you have reached the bottom still standing, body intact. Hold on, it’s only going to get better from here.

2007 Screwball

A Syrah dominated wine with a 10% splash of Mourvedre. The Syrah fruit is derived from a minimally cropped vineyard block at Booker, located about one mile as a crow flies North from our facility. Soft in texture from ripe and supple grapes, I blended in 10% Mourvedre to help extend the finish and tickle the palate. This bombshell of a wine is approachable now and should last 4-6 years. Starting in 2009, you will see Grenache blended into SCREWBALL, creating a slightly brighter front palate.
